Tomonari Abe

Tomonari Abe has led the research and development into the activation pathways of sirtuin genes, which govern the biology of aging and as heir to a lineage that began more than 290 years ago as physicians to the imperial court, he unites the arts of health preservation handed down through ten generations of his family with the insights of Western medicine to advance the science of aging. Among the first in Japan to champion the modern concept of longevity, he pursues a single vision through both enterprise and research: a society in which people flourish in health across a long life.
